DiNK Announces 2019 Guests

Denver, CO: Denver's Award Winning Independent Comics and Art Expo just unleashed a laundry list of talent for its 4th annual show including Catana Comics, Bill Amend, Paul Pope, Faith Erin Hicks and a dozen top-tier independent comic artists from around the country. With many anticipated guest announcements expected to be released through February, the first wave of special guests will join nearly 250 featured artists in Downtown Denver at the McNichols Building this April 13-14.

Lauded for its laser focus on independent arts, DiNK features Colorado's largest exposition of indie comic artists, writers, creators, zine makers, and urban artists (graffiti and tattoo art) over two days each year. Featuring nearly three floors of entertainment, including hundreds of local, national and globally renowned artists the event highlights an expansive display of talent including exclusive releases, debut books, art spreads, commission opportunities and a chance to rub elbows with some of the most celebrated artists in the indie community.

Additionally, for the more creatively inclined, the annual event features rousing daily panel discussions, serious craft sessions, adult coloring, cocktails, art auctions, and the mountain west's first Comic and only Art Awards ceremony 'The DINKy's.'

Setting the stage for an extraordinary roster of the talent, DiNK has revealed a snapshot into the 2019 expo with the early announcement of Bill Amend. Cartoonist of the year and five time Gold Crown Winner, Amend, is known for the hit weekly comic strip FoxTrot. Amend's work (centered on a chaotic family and an iguana) appeared in the funny pages of syndicated newspapers around the world from 1988-2006.

His short science fiction comic strip Strange Adventures (DC Comics) won the coveted National Cartoonist Society Reuben Award for Best Comic Book of the year. He has won 5 Eisner awards to date.

Canadian cartoonist and writer, Faith Erin Hicks, (Nameless City Trilogy, Buffy, Lumberjanes). Distinguished as one of the most prolific female graphic novelists of this generation, Hicks will appear on the heels of her latest critically acclaimed teen romance novel; Comics Will Break Your Heart.

Internet sensation, Catana Chetwynd is known for the insanely sweet funny webcomic, Catana Comics, started the strip as stray doodles on scraps of paper and it became a huge hit, with over 1.9 million followers, when Catana’s boyfriend shared her drawings online.

The addition of Team Ash from Cold War Inc. also brings a nod to the gaming community, highlighting fresh possibilities for DiNK and may foretell a new and active gaming aspect of the convention which is sure to appeal to comics and gaming fans of all types.

With additional announcements expected through February, and organizers will be releasing further clues towards this exciting expansion in the coming months.
