Curious Origins–Daddy Death
I am the creator of “Daddy Death”. Daddy Death is a comic where Death learns about life, through raising a child. Literally someone left a baby on Death’s doorstep in Suburbia. It is done entirely traditional in ink, and pastel watercolors. It’s a story about coming out of isolation, parenting, community, love, childhood, caring and ultimately how Death isn’t always a bad thing.
As for me, I was the strange child who watched horror movies on TV (without my parents’ knowledge) to fall asleep. From the ages of 4-14, I read every version of Dracula I could get my hands on; every ghost story in the local branch of the library, local ‘scary’ history and was an avid fan of Batman, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. These were stories about how no matter how dark, how damaged, humanity would survive. I loved scaring other kids with my own versions of these stories. I’ve been an Artist and Storyteller from the very beginning, and luckily Comics combine these two. I’ve been painting with watercolor for 7 years, obsessed with Pen and Ink for 10 years, with some pastel, ceramic, oil, and silver-smithing experience. I like learning new things, any chance I get.
