Sam Spina is a cartoonist currently living in LA, but he used to live in Denver. He is probably most known for his diary comics, called Spinadoodles (some published by Tinto Press), but has a bunch of other books too, including a few published by Kilgore books and Xeric award winning FIGHT. He works for Cartoon Network, but he worked at Colore Italian restaurant when he lived in Denver. He recommends you trying it out if you’re visiting from out of town, or live in Denver and have never been. It’s very good. He painted a mural there with the owner’s son a while ago, but it’s been painted over. Also one of his favorite food in the world are breakfast burritos from Jalapeño’s just down the street from Colore, he hope he gets to have one when he’s in town for DINK, but it seems unlikely. If you’re looking for any other Denver recommendations he’ll do his best, but the city has changed a lot since he’s lived here. He’s 29.
